Forklift eTool : New OSHA Release

Searching for forklift safety guidelines does not have to be daunting. Just yesterday, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released the Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift) eTool, their latest Web-based training tool. Now you don’t have to search the Internet over for information about forklift safety operations.

This eTool focuses on forklifts commonly used in general industry. It gives a summary of key OSHA requirements and industry-recommended practices for forklift operations.

The eTool is divided into four modules that address the following:

• different types and fundamentals of forklifts
• basic safe work practices and operating rules
• workplace conditions affecting safe operation
• operator training

The eTool also has input from the Industrial Truck Association and other Alliance Program participants like Altec Industries, Inc., American Foundry Society, Association of Equipment Manufacturers, Integrated Waste Services Association, International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC),American Forest and Paper Association and Pulp and Paper Safety Association, and Precision Metalforming Association.
