Every year we anticipate the list. Some want to satisfy their curiosity. Most have to analyze the trends. Indeed, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) list of violations is the talk of the town. Well, not exactly the whole town or nation but at least the entire safety industry.
But looking at this year’s list is almost like making a flashback to the findings in 2007. Believe it or not, more than half of the violations in each group are the same as those cited in the list last year. In fact, most of the same cited violations belong in the same ranking.
In the General Industry, Hazard Communication Program remains stuck to the top spot with a total of 2,220 violations. Machine Guarding and Training on New Chemical Hazards are on the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively, just like last year.
In the Construction Industry, Fall Protection for Residential Construction still ranks number 1 with 2,280 violations. Such categories as Duty to Have Fall Protection, Head Protection and Aerial Lifts seem to have reserved the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots, respectively, since last year.
