There is a lot of buzz going around regarding the recent ads posted by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. There were about 5 commercials and some print material that achieved near epidemic levels on social media platforms such as Digg and Stumbleupon. The ads caused a lot of controversy on how graphic they are, some people found it downright offensive.
Frankly I don’t think it’s possible to be serious enough when it comes to workplace safety. Some people have even stated that these ads are the most effective means of advertising in the Canadian Province of Ottawa (via Mark Sutcliffe), and I am inclined to agree. I think he said it best : “Workplace Accidents aren’t pretty, so why should a campaign about them be anything BUT unpleasant”
Prevention is EVERYONES responsibility, and it’s time a little realism got the spotlight for once.
